Club Q Update #82 - With thanks to Haruki Murakami
I think I had just finished the IQ84 trilogy of books by Haruki Murakami when I wrote this song.
If I had to pick one, Murakami would be my favourite author. His stories are masterful, spellbinding and full of unexpected twists and curveballs. I love how mysterious and abstract his books can get, while somehow always maintaining a common human thread that is relatable. He’s also a monster record collector - so i’m bound to love him. I’ve read everything he’s published. I can’t get enough.
It truly feels like summer today, and I spent the whole morning outside (albeit disassembling the vacuum cleaner and washing it all out. Anyone want two free cats?). It felt like today need a summery song. I like the way the verses sound dark and mysterious, before lifting to a major key and a more uplifting feel in the chorus. It was based on how the Murakami books made me feel - light and shade, dark and mysterious mixed with some glimmer of hope and redemption.
This is another song that I feel doesn’t really fit with my other songs, and it’s so nice for it to have a home here on Club Q. Hope you like it
