Club Q Update #38 - Most Of All
Here’s another home demo for you.
This song sprung to mind today while I was out working in our garden. It felt like a gorgeous summers day here in Chicago. I was reminded of house sitting a family members’ house out by the Fox River last summer, sitting out on the lawn watching the river boats go by. There had just been a tragedy in the family, and we were all holding each other a little tighter than usual. I had brought my acoustic guitar and a little recording rig with me, and this is the song I wrote and recorded there over the long weekend. It was a song about appreciating those closest to us. Nothing in this life is guaranteed, recognize and cherish the good.
I have a bunch of these more ‘songwriter’ style songs waiting around. It’s a style i’ve always referenced, from ‘Too Good For Me’, ‘Stay’ and ‘Roll Away’ on the first album, ‘Amber’s Song on Coming Up For Air, ‘Island Bound’ on The Outsider… I think it’s a kind of song that can coexist with the more guitar-centric bluesy side of what I do, but sometimes it’s hard to squeeze them in without them kinda sticking out like a sore thumb on an album. Maybe that’s why I have a few stockpiled!
Anyways, I hope you like it!
