Club Q Update #27 - No-one boogied like John Lee...

I was recently asked to do a little video tribute to one the greats - the incomparable John Lee Hooker.

This scared the shit out of me.

What made John Lee Hooker so great was his unpredictability, his stream-of-consciousness approach to the Blues, his disregard of any framework… his blues was rough and raw and delivered with a voice as rich, deep and as velvety as you can get. All of this was bound together in the relentless boogie that was all his own. A true original, and a true genius.

All of these things also mean that he is impossible to replicate. All I could do was try and learn some of those lessons from his vast and beautiful catalogue and pay tribute to him as best I could.
