Club Q Update #4 - Unreleased Home Demo!

Hey there everyone! Hope this finds you well.

Today I thought i’d do something a bit different for the update, and explain to you a totally unreleased song, all recorded here in my little home studio. Here’s the scoop…

Firstly, when I wrote this song I was on a MASSIVE Pink Floyd kick (I kinda always am), Umma Gumma especially was on the turntable constantly at this time. This song in my head really leant itself to a Pink Floyd style ‘big’ production.

Part of my process is to take an idea, and run with it NO MATTER WHAT - whether it fits with any other songs i’ve written, whether I lose faith in the song halfway through, whether it’s unbelievably dumb. No matter what, it’s so important to finish the bugger!

SO. What you have here is a home demo recorded in a small room in my apartment - the drums are programmed electronic ones, guitars and vocals (backing included) are all me. Bass is also me, but I know Tod Bowers would have done a better job. Andrew Toombs came over to my place to lend his expertise on some keys to really help with the atmosphere. There’s no way I could have recorded what he can!

So here’s the thing. I’m not sure this song will ever make it to an album, but I wanted to show you guys what I get up to when I am not on the road, and perhaps a little look into my creative process too. I really hope you enjoy it!

Thanks! Davy Knowles Blues Rock Guitar

For the technically minded/interested - this was all recorded in Logic X through a Universal Audio Apollo. Guitars were ALL my PRS ‘Ellie’ through my Bludotone DK30 and a Universal Audio OX Box. Vocal mic was a Shure SM7B.
