The making of the album

Posted Apr 06, 2009 by Satsu Design

Hey there folks - thought I’d just post a few pictures and do a quick blog on the making of this album, now that it’s all mixed! There will be a more complete one knocking about soon when the website is completed.

It seems like I started it ages ago, but it’s only been a few weeks - first was an incredibly quick 3 and a half hour rehearsal with Fritz Lewak and Kevin McCormick, who are most known as Jackson Browne’s drummer and bass player.

After that came the tracking. We used a great studio called Sage & Sound, with a beautiful tracking room, so we could really get a live sound. Most of the rhythm guitars were recorded with the drums and bass, again to get that live performance kind of sound.

Then we moved onto the overdubbing stage, where we added my final vocals, the guitar solos and all the other little embellishments. This was done at Woodcliff Studio, with the mighty Frank “Hey Frankie” Rosato - just a wonderful engineer who was a joy to work with.

Then we went on to mixing, with the mighty Bob Clearmountain. First of all, I have so many people to thank for this album, but Bob really bent over backwards and mixed the whole album in 4 days, starting the day after we asked him… the guy is not only a true genius who has mixed some of the biggest and best albums of all time but a true gentleman. Not only that but I was treated like a king at his house. Thank you!!

Phew. So that is where I’m up to right now. Very excited about this album. No release date yet, and it still needs to be mastered, have the artwork gathered for it, and named… I’ll keep you posted though
